A great place to live, work and worship...
Taunton is the county town of Somerset and has a long history. Originally a Saxon village, it was chartered in 904 and by the 13th century was a thriving medieval town.
Now a bustling shopping and administrative centre, Taunton has a population of over 61,000.
Taunton’s ‘claim to fame’ is that it was the first town in the country to be lit permanently by electric street lighting (in 1886) and this provided the inspiration for our church logo – reminding us that we are called to be the “Light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
